Holistic Therapies

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Or CBT as it is more commonly referred to is a therapy that focuses on assessing the particular ways in which individuals think, behave, perceive, act and react. This knowledge will equip the therapist or individual to deal successfully with their own or their clients behavioural, emotional and social challenges.

CBT therapists work to unlock and release the potential within their clients, to bring about ‘major positive improvements’ and changes in their lives by focusing upon presenting issues and offering more balanced and focused ways of looking at, addressing and handling such matters, with a more positive outcome. CBT is a powerful and practical tool for personal exploration, problem solving and development.

Additionally this therapy offers ‘strategies and techniques’ for addressing and dispelling negative thought processes/patterns. CBT offers the sufferer of panic disorders/ agoraphobia and many other similar ailments, the solution of learning, by practice and repetition, new ways of dealing with difficult situations and the anxieties they may cause.

Holisitic Massage

Holistic Massage

Holistic massage is an individual treatment that is specifically tailored to each client. A holistic practitioner treats the client as a whole, taking into account their emotional and spiritual wellbeing, as well as their physical body.

An MTI practitioner masters a wide range of massage techniques. These can range from subtle energy work to deep tissue methods; from dynamic mobilizations to gentle holds. Flexibility in applying this knowledge is paramount since their appropriateness must be determined by the client's particular needs.  Every treatment is unique providing a creative opportunity for the practitioner to adapt to the given situation.  Just as important is the MTI practitioner’s continued professional development as well as their self-care through their own bodyuse, allowing the massage to flow without strain.

During MTI training, great importance is placed on how the practitioner communicates and interacts with the client. The MTI therapist works 'with' the client rather than just giving a massage 'to' them.

Stress Management
Stress Management

Stress is an old problem that has only recently been recognised as a basic, and sometimes major, factor in many physical and mental problems. Covering a vast scale of “stress related problems” and their treatments we will help you find a way to cope.

You may feel there’s nothing you can do about stress. The bills won’t stop coming, there will never be more hours in the day, and your work and family responsibilities will always be demanding. But you have more control over stress than you might think. Stress management is all about taking charge: of your lifestyle, thoughts, emotions, and the way you deal with problems. No matter how stressful your life seems, there are steps you can take to relieve the pressure and regain control.

We all respond to stress differently so, there’s no “one size fits all” solution to managing stress. But if you feel like the stress in your life is out of control, it’s time to take action. Stress management can teach you healthier ways to cope with stress, help you reduce its harmful effects, and prevent stress from spiraling out of control again in the future.

No matter how powerless you may feel in the face of stress, you still have control over your lifestyle, thoughts, emotions, and the way you deal with problems. Stress management involves changing the stressful situation when you can, changing your reaction when you can’t, taking care of yourself, and making time for rest and relaxation. The first step is to recognize the true sources of stress in your life.

Life Coaching
Reassessing your work/life balance

Work pressure can sometimes take over our lives, and although we all know there’s more to life than work, some of us can get so caught up in long working hours and increased workplace competition that we may forget it. Friends, family and hobbies can often be unintentionally neglected while work fills most of the hours in our day. With the growth in technology, it has become easier to work even if you are not at the office; emails and the Internet make it harder to switch off from work, and communicating out of working hours is now common.

Most people who spend a lot of time at work find they earn a reasonable income but have no time to enjoy their money or spend any time doing the things they enjoy. Finding a work/life balance means dividing your time between everything you find important in your life. If you (or your family) are suffering from a lack of balance in your work life, perhaps it’s time for some changes.

Reasons people may decide to reassess their work/life balance include:

  • feeling exhausted on a daily basis

  • not spending enough time with friends or family

  • work has become their life

  • spending evening and weekends thinking about/doing work

  • not spending any time enjoying hobbies/activities

  • dreading getting up in the mornings

  • feeling unable to cope with the pressure of life

  • not enjoying life anymore.

Life should be about balancing the things you enjoy with the responsibilities of earning a living. Without this balance, relationships may begin to break down and life may stop being pleasurable. If you’re working to earn money that you don’t have the time to spend or you're missing out on spending time with your family, a life coach may be able to help.

Business Coaching

Whether you are a business owner, an executive, a manager, an employee or simply a person looking for a new job or career, hiring a business coach to help develop and hone your skills could greatly improve your chances of success.

The term 'business coaching' encompasses:

  • executive coaching (for seniors)

  • start-up business coaching (for entrepreneurs)

  • management coaching (for team leaders)

  • staff coaching (for teams)

  • interview coaching (for potential employees)

Business coaches utilise structure, impartiality and acquired expertise to help their clients explore their strengths, build on their weaknesses and learn new techniques to help them excel in their fields.

How can a business coach help me?

A business coach could help you by offering an external, objective and constructive perspective of your situation.

1. You want to develop further public speaking skills

Whether you suffer from stage-fright (sweaty palms, tight throat, debilitating nerves), or simply want to turn an interesting presentation into an inspiring one - a business coach with a solid background in public speaking could teach you the specialist techniques required to give an excellent and effective pitch, conference, or presentation.

2. You want to improve communication skills

Communication skills are paramount in business. How do you negotiate a good deal, get colleagues to like you and impress seniors if you can't communicate properly? Good communication skills don't come naturally to all of us by any means. Shyness, awkwardness, low self-confidence and feelings of inferiority can hold people back in business, no matter how intelligent or innovative they are.

3. You want to start a new business

Start-up business coaches offer much-needed support, guidance and expertise for new entrepreneurs looking to start a business. Start-ups are notoriously risky - about half fail within the first three years due to misjudged markets, overestimated forecasts, underestimated liabilities and so on - all easy mistakes to make for a first-timer. With an experienced business coach on-board, those fatal mistakes could be seriously minimised.

4. You need help managing a team

Managing a team of people can be incredibly hard work. Firstly you have to be very perceptive - how do you identify and utilise everybody's strengths? How do you get everyone to work as well as they possibly can together? Secondly you have to be confident - there's no use worrying that no one likes you. If you appear unconfident and uncertain then you're unlikely to gain the trust and respect of your team.

5. You need to make key changes and decisions

For businesses planning to merge, expand, relocate or change in structure, making careful decisions at this transitional point is paramount. Often, it can be hard to see your business as a whole, especially if you have an emotional bond with the business. Staying true to your original aims is important, but recognising when changes need to be made is essential. Some business owners and partners try to resist change for private reasons and end up jeopardising the future success of their business. Although business coaches should never work as mediators, they do aim to offer an unbiased, completely objective outlook. Sometimes a decision is much easier to make if an impartial perspective can be considered.

6. Preparing a CV

Whether you're looking for part-time work, you've just graduated from University and need help, or you're looking to change you career path altogether, a business coach could help you to construct, write and optimise your CV to offer you the best possible chances of getting that all-important interview.

7. You want to improve your interviewee or interviewer skills

There are certain techniques that make a good interviewer and interviewee. If you are a prospective interviewee looking to increase your chances of getting the job you want, hiring a business coach specialising in career coaching could significantly boost your chances. From learning how to speak in a clear, confident manner, to constructing full, informative and convincing answers - lessons from a career coach could be invaluable.

Interviewing potential employees can be just as daunting. How do you know how to get the best out of someone? What are the right questions to ask? How do you know if an individual really will fit into your company? A business coach will be able to make the whole process clearer and less nerve-wracking by teaching you practical skills to become an effective interviewer.

8. You need help with work/life balance

It's easy to get carried away at work, especially if a tough project demands lots of time and effort. If you're finding it difficult to find a healthy balance between work and home-life, then a business coach could help. By prioritising tasks, implementing time-frames and coaching time-management skills, you could soon find you finally have time to give your family, friends, hobbies and work the attention they're due.

9. You need motivation

The problem with motivation is that it's often short-lived. We might wake up on a Monday raring to go and get started on new projects and exciting ideas, but by Wednesday that enthusiasm can begin to wain. For newentrepreneurs, having the motivation to keep going even when everything starts to go wrong can be incredibly difficult.

Business coaches can help motivate you to keep going by introducing short-term goals and encouraging you to see the daily successes you might otherwise have dismissed as unimportant. A coach will also teach you ways to motivate yourself, so when things become really rough and you don't even want to get out of bed in the morning, you can find the strength to get up, get out and get going with the day.

How long does business coaching take?

Different business coaches practice different methods, so the number of sessions needed will vary from coach to coach. The number of sessions you have will also vary according to the subject you wish to address. For instance, help with your CV will take significantly less time than help with managing a new team.

Generally though, business coaches work with their clients from between six to 18 months. The sessions end when all the goals have been reached, or whenever the client wishes.

Coaches aim to work at their client's pace and will never rush any decisions, or take longer than necessary working on a project.
